Snowfall and rain forecast in many places across State today

Rain in the evening brought considerable relief from the warm weather in Dehradun on Friday. After a warm day with partially cloudy skies, rain and thunder in the evening turned the weather cool once again in the provisional State capital. Rain and hail was experienced in other parts of the State as well on Friday. Similar weather is likely in Dehradun and elsewhere in the State on Saturday.

The State meteorological centre has forecast that light to moderate rain/ thunderstorm/ snowfall are very likely to occur at many places in the districts of Uttarakhand today. Further, snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 3,500 metres and above. The meteorological centre has also issue a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightening/hail likely to occur at isolated places in the districts.

For the provisional State capital Dehradun, the meteorological centre has forecast that rain / thunderstorms are likely to occur with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius respectively on Saturday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Friday were 30.2 degrees Celsius ad 15.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 28.8 degrees Celsius and 12.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 14.5 degrees Celsius and 4.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 18 degrees Celsius and 6.9 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. With light rain being recorded in various parts of the State, there was 10.5 millimetres rain each in Devidhura and Jakholi, nine millimetres in Dhanaulti, 8.5 millimetres in Nainital, 7.5 millimetres in Chakrata and six millimetres each in Mukteshwar and Bhimtal. Hail was also reported in Nainital and other parts of the State.
