The Yogi Adityanath government has ordered schools across the state to open for one day on June 21 to celebrate the 9th International Yoga Day.
Besides practicing Yoga, children will be given sweets, fruits, and clean drinking water on the occasion. Various competitions will also be organised and top three students will be rewarded.
Detailed instructions regarding organising the 9th International Yoga Day have been sent to all district basic education officers by the Director Mid-Day Meal Authority and Director of Education (Basic) Vijay Kiran Anand.
The order also states that compliance with the directives issued by the Director of Education (Basic) regarding Yoga Day is mandatory. It further says that all primary and upper primary schools in the state have to participate in yoga activities.
The directive also says that on June 20, principals, teachers and children of all primary and upper primary schools should be informed about the benefits of pranayama, asanas, breathing exercises, and yoga. The principal of the school will act as a nodal officer for the successful organisation of the activities.
On June 21, all principals, teachers, non-teaching staff, and children of primary and upper primary schools will take part in yogic activities.
The events will also feature poster, essay and quiz competitions on yoga for students of class 6 to 8. In this sequence, Yoga Week will be celebrated from June 15 to 21.
