Noted Orthopedist of State and director of Gulmohar Hospital, Dr Anchal Kumar was severely attacked by a masked criminal. The incident took place on Monday morning around 6 am at Shail Vihar Colony near Booti More under Sadar police station area of the State Capital.

The doctor had gone out for a walk on his balcony. Meanwhile, the criminal who had already ambushed suddenly attacked him on the head. While trying to catch the culprit, Dr Anchal called out to his wife. Meanwhile, his wife Dr Rachna reached the balcony. While in front of her also, the attacker attacked Dr Anchal's head again and managed to run away. Injured Dr Anchal has been admitted to Medica Hospital for treatment. His skull bone is broken in two places. There are 16 stitches.

After the incident, the investigation of the case was started by the Sadar police station. Forensic team was also called. The team has collected the sample. At the same time, Sadar DySP, Prabhat Ranjan Barwar also reached the doctor's residence for research. He obtained information regarding the incident and said that the attacker is being searched on the basis of CCTV footage. The reason for the incident will be clear only after the attacker is caught, he added.

Dr Anchal fainted after the assailant hit him on the head with a rod. In a hurry, he was taken to Medica Hospital for treatment. He is undergoing treatment under the supervision of Dr Amit of NeuroSurgery Department. Dr Amit said that the skull has been broken at two places in the front and back of the head. A lot of blood has come out from the head due to which the blood clot was also frozen. After the surgery, eight stitches have been applied in the front and eight in the back.

As soon as he came out of the situation, Dr Anchal said thanks to all my colleagues who supported me in this hour of trouble. Get well soon and will return to serve you all, he added.

Dr Ajit Kumar, a surgeon working in Sadar Hospital, has expressed displeasure over the attacks on doctors in the recent past. He has written on his Facebook wall that all doctors are discouraged by the incidents of fighting in Jamtara, Hazaribagh, Garhwa and Ranchi. President of Ranchi Indian Medical Association, Dr Shambhu Prasad Singh said that an attempt has been made to kill Dr Anchal but what is the reason for this is not clear.
