Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday said that the state has set a new record by providing government jobs to 26,074 eligible youth purely on the basis of merit.
“The state is witnessing a new revolution where the youth are being empowered with government jobs. This is just the beginning and 26,074 jobs have been given in 10 months of tenure…More jobs are in pipeline and this process will continue in the coming days too,” said Mann, while addressing the gathering during a function to hand over appointment letters to 188 Junior Engineers.
The Chief Minister said that merit is the sole criteria of recruitment for government jobs. “Complete transparency is being ensured in the recruitment process so that bright youth are employed with the State Government,” said Mann envisioning that this will help in channelizing the unbounded energy of youth in positive direction.
“The State Government has taken exemplary decisions in the last 10 months of its tenure. While the other parties had made promises to the people during the run up of the polls, we have given guarantee to the masses. One by one all these guarantees are being fulfilled,” he said, while pointing that guarantee regarding 300 units of free electricity per month and opening 500 Aam Aadmi clinics across the state have been fulfilled.
Taking the opposition parties to cudgels, the Chief Minister said: “Opposition for the sake of opposition is totally unwarranted and undesirable. These people are vary of the state’s progress and prosperity due to which they are opposing this initiative.”
However, the Chief Minister said that this will not deter him to work for the state’s growth and he will continue to work hard for welfare of its people.
