Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 will provide a new dimension to school education and higher education in the country. He said that Uttarakhand is the first State to implement the NEP-2020 in the schools. Dhami opined that apart from giving an impetus to the skill development, the NEP-2020 will give a boost to the research and development. The CM was addressing the annual function of the Parwati Prema Jagati, Saraswati Vihar School in Nainital on Saturday. Addressing the students, he said that education does not mean getting bookish knowledge but it is a journey where one discovers oneself. He said that the NEP -2020 will succeed in fulfilling the target of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a developed nation. Dhami said that a new India is taking shape under the leadership of PM Modi.
Quoting Swami Vivekanand, the CM said that he had said that every person has got an immense store of immense energy and power and one needs to recognise it and channelize it. Exhorting the students to remain positive, the CM said that they should understand the importance of time and make best use of it. The CM congratulated the students, teachers and management of the school for its 36th annual function and assured every possible help to fulfil the desire of the founders of the school to convert it to a university. The union minister of State of defence and tourism Ajay Bhatt said that the students of the school are holding positions of leadership in the country. The former governor of Maharashtra and former CM Bhagat Singh Koshyari said that the basic mantra of NEP-2020 has been taken from Vidhya Bharati. He said that emphasis on vocational education is given in the NEP-2020.
