Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make another visit to his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on November 5 where he plans to inaugurate a series of crucial development projects for the people of Kashi.
The visit will coincide with the closing ceremony of the Kashi MP Sports Competition, where he will honour the winners. The event promises to be a grand affair with the prime minister personally overseeing the preparations.
The prime minister’s forthcoming visit was announced during his interaction with administrative officials after the launch of the portal and QR code of the Kashi MP Sports Competition.
A senior official in Lucknow said that Prime Minister Modi emphasised the need for a grand closing ceremony of the sports meet and confirmed his attendance.
The Kashi MP Sports Competition, currently underway, is set to conclude on November 5.
Among the notable projects slated for inauguration during the visit is the eagerly awaited Phulwaria four-lane overbridge, which is a vital infrastructure development aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Varanasi.
The one lane of the Phulwaria four-lane overbridge has already been built and the second lane is expected to be completed by October 10. By October 25, it is expected that this four-lane road will be ready to be opened to the public.
The visit also includes laying the foundation stones of various social initiatives, including a women’s shelter home, orphanage, and recuperating home in Ramnagar.
One of the key highlights of the prime minister’s visit is the Kashi MP Sports Competition, which aims to promote sportsmanship among the people of Varanasi. A lofty goal has been set to attract over two lakh participants this year, significantly surpassing last year’s participation of 1.15 lakh. Since the launch of the portal by the prime minister, an impressive 10,000 participants have already registered, with registration open till October 15.
