Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Monday wrote to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal warning him of legal action regarding his allegations of an alleged bid to stop the AAP government’s flagship power subsidy scheme in the city.
Saxena asked the Chief Minister to furnish documents, substantiating his allegations, that establishes that the Raj Niwas wants power subsidy to be stopped or is conspiring with officers or a political party to stop power subsidy, as is being openly alleged by your Ministers and colleagues in the party.
He further termed them as “unsubstantiated and false.”
“It is expected that the information sought above will be furnished to me at the earliest, failing which it would be assumed that you and your colleagues are deliberately misleading the people of Delhi and playing petty political games, which deserve unequivocal condemnation and legal redressal,” Saxena said in his letter to Kejriwal.
“For the past few weeks, the Minister (Power), Minister (Health) and you yourself have been making blatantly false, misleading, accusatory, libelous and defamatory statements in the media and elsewhere to the effect that the ‘subsidy given in the power sector is being stopped by the Lt Governor/that the Lt Governor is conspiring with the officers to stop power subsidy’.,” reads the letter.
“ On 13. 03.2023m Delhi Power Minister Atishi alleged that LG, Chief Secretary and Power Secretary are conspiring to disrupt the free electricity supply being provided to the people of Delhi.
In a press release on March 24, 2023, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that LG is determined to stop electricity subsidy, we are also fighting strongly, will not let subsidy stop.
In another press statement, Atishi said that LG-BJP nexus conspiring to Stop power subsidy for farmers & advocates. On March 30, Atishi further said that LG and BJP pressurising the officials of the power department to stop subsidy.
