Kejriwal refuses to appear before ED, BJP holds dharna in protest

Friday, 03 November 2023 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

As the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal refused to appear before the ED, the BJP hit out at the AAP national convenor, alleging that he ran away as he did not want to face the truth. Delhi BJP leaders staged a dharna near Mahatma Gandhi's memorial at Rajghat on Thursday, demanding Kejriwal's resignation over the alleged excise policy scam.

Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that "It won't be an exaggeration to say that the Delhi liquor scam kingpin has accepted that he was involved in liquor scam and corruption" Patra said that ED issues summons based on facts and evidence but Kejriwal is running away from facing the probe agency's questions because he knows the truth.

"Today it is proved that the one who is 'kattar' (outright) dishonest is 'kattar' shameless also,” the BJP leader charged, adding "ED doesn't send summons randomly. We firmly believe that ED or any other agency sending summons to Kejriwal was based on some grounds."

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP leaders- Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Ramesh Bidhuri, Harsh Vardhan, Vijay Goel, Manoj Tiwari and Adesh Gupta among other party leaders, staged a dharna near Mahatma Gandhi's memorial at Rajghat on Thursday, demanding Kejriwal's resignation over the alleged excise policy scam. "There was a scam of thousands of crores of rupees in the excise policy and even the children in Delhi knew that Kejriwal was the mastermind behind it," Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said at the sit-in.

“BJP has been saying from the beginning that Kejriwal is the real mastermind of this liquor scam and today this has been proved. We also protested against this liquor scam in the Assembly but to fill his pockets, the liquor policy brought by Kejriwal sent Sanjay Singh to jail after former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia and now he himself is under inquiry,” Bidhuri said.

Vardhan said that before coming into politics, Kejriwal had taken an oath on his children to not to join politics but still he came into politics and then he started roaming around with a list in which the names of many leaders of the country were there and started talking about not forming an alliance with them. But today he is making alliance with them. Tiwari said that the letter he has written to ED today is proving that no one can be a bigger scamster then Kejriwal. When Manish Sisodia applied for bail in the Supreme Court, the court clearly said that loot of Rs 338 crore is being proved in this entire case, but despite this, Arvind Kejriwal is saying that BJP is trying to implicate him.
