The Karnataka state assembly will implement the UP model of digitisation of the state assembly. Karnataka assembly Speaker UT Khader Fareed along with officials of the assembly visited the Uttar Pradesh assembly on Tuesday.
The Karnataka assembly delegation headed by Speaker Khader Fareed had come to get a firsthand account of the digitisation of the entire process and conduct of the proceedings of the UP assembly.
The visit by the Karnataka speaker is significant as Bengaluru is considered to be the information technology (IT) capital of India.
Khader Fareed was particularly interested to know as to how the UP assembly had flawlessly implemented the e-vidhan software for the digitisation of the state assembly. Proceedings of the UP assembly are almost totally paperless and the last two annual budgets were also paperless.
The chairman of the Karnataka legislative council was also scheduled to visit Lucknow. His programme was however cancelled.
UP Vidhan Sabha Speaker Satish Mahana apprised the Karnataka assembly speaker of the process of digitisation and e-vidhan implementation by the UP assembly. Mahana told the Karnataka speaker that the entire proceedings of the UP assembly are paperless and all the members of UP assembly participate in assembly proceedings through digital process.
Mahana said in the second phase of digitisation, the assembly and parliamentary constituencies and media would be digitally linked with the state assembly.
Khader Fareed appreciated the implementation of the e-vidhan by the UP assembly. He said he along with his officials would again visit the UP assembly to understand the detailed process of digitisation of the assembly proceedings and later implement it in his home state.
The Karnataka speaker also took a round of the digital gallery where the history of the UP assembly is on display since its inception. He also visited the digital corridor of the UP assembly where the photos of all members of the UP assembly and important policies and programmes are on display.
Impressed by the achievements of the UP assembly, Khader Fareed said undoubtedly UP Vidhan Sabha was the best state assembly of India, as it was equipped with the latest version of information technology.
