JPCC celebrates 139th Foundation Day of Indian National Congress

Friday, 29 December 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

On the occasion of the 139th Foundation Day of the Congress, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee's working president Bandhu Tirkey hoisted the party flag at the party headquarters and the guard of honour was given by the state general secretary of the Seva Dal, Chhotu Singh. On this occasion, Congressmen congratulated each other on the All India Congress Foundation Day. The 139th Foundation Day of Congress was celebrated with great pomp at all the district headquarters of the state including the capital Ranchi.

Working President of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, Bandhu Tirkey, while congratulating the present Congressmen on the Congress Foundation Day, said that the challenge of the Congress established 138 years ago on 28 December 1885 has increased a lot today. It is a very important responsibility of Congressmen to save the country from divisive forces as well as separatist ideology and to protect those values on the basis of which the freedom struggle was fought or the great construction of the country started immediately after independence.

He said that after independence, the great campaign to develop India started under the leadership of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru is why today our country is included among the important powers of the world. Today there are more than 5.5 crore Congress members, our ideology spreads from Kashmir to Kutch and from Kanyakumari to Manipur. Our roots are in every particle of the soil of India. Secularism, civic nationalism, liberalism, economic liberalism are our basis, Congress gives top priority to international cordial relations and progressive alliance.

Tirkey said that today the country needs the policies and principles of Congress the most, the aim of the Congress Party is not just to gain power, but to keep the country united and move it on the path of development. He said that we are members of a national party which has a glorious history. Today the party is struggling to provide the rights of the weaker sections under the leadership of its National President Mallikarjun Kharge. We have given many examples of renunciation and sacrifice. The coming year 2024 is important for the party. There are to be general elections in the country and there are to be elections in Jharkhand too. We would urge the Congressmen present to convey our policy principles to the people through our programmes.
