Hry CM announces special bonanza for 9000 Special Police Officers as Diwali gift

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday gave administrative sanction to increase honorarium of all Special Police Officers (SPOs) from Rs 18,000 to 20,000 per month. With immense gratitude towards the service provided by around 9000 SPOs, the Chief Minister has sanctioned this increase as a token of appreciation for their efforts in maintaining law and order in the state. Khattar stated, "The commitment and dedication exhibited by our Special Police Officers is truly commendable. They play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens. This special Diwali gift is a small token of our gratitude for their selfless service. We hope it brings joy and prosperity to them and their families during this auspicious festival."


216 won prizes worth Rs 12.43L under Mera Bill scheme in Punjab in Oct

Chandigarh: Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday said that 216 winners won prizes worth Rs 12,43,005 by uploading their purchase bills on ‘Mera Bill’ app in the month of October under ‘Bill Liyao Inaam Pao’ scheme. Cheema said that the highest number of 40 winners from Taxation district of Ludhiana won prizes. The Minister appealed to the people to get bills for purchase of every good and service, and participate in this scheme every month to win prizes to the tune of Rs 10,000.

Pb Sports Minister congratulates ace archer Praneet for winning two Gold medals

Chandigarh: Punjab’s archer Praneet Kaur has set yet another record by winning two Gold medals in the ongoing Asian Championships in Bangkok. Praneet has won gold medals in individual and team categories. Congratulating her, the state’s Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Thursday said that after winning a Gold medal in the Asian Games recently, she has now brought glory to Punjab and the country by winning two Gold medals in the Asian Championship.

 16 works with estimated cost of Rs 35.42 cr allocated in Punjab under NABARD-28 project

Chandigarh: Punjab Public Works and Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Thursday said that to further strengthen the state’s road infrastructure and improving connectivity, works of 24 bridges have been approved under NABARD-28 project at an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore. Total 16 works have been allotted through e-tenders in a transparent manner at the estimated cost of Rs 35.42 crore. Under this project, new bridges would be constructed in the state’s rural areas besides replacing the old bridges with new one as required.

Punjab Govt acting tough against forgery of SC certificates

Chandigarh: Safeguarding the interests of the Scheduled Castes in the State, the state-level scrutiny committee, constituted at the government level, has rejected the fake backward classes certificate of Jasvir Singh and the fake scheduled caste certificate of Panch Mithu Ram. Punjab Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Thursday explained that a complaint was filed by Balvir Singh against Jasvir Singh, alleging that he obtained a job as an ETT teacher in the Education Department with a fake BC certificate. Similarly, complaint was filed against Panch Mithu Ram by Pala Singh, Jaswinder Singh and Harneet Singh, stating that he was made a SC certificate despite belonging to the Rajput caste.

‘Uttarakhand Day’ celebrated at Punjab Raj Bhawan

Chandigarh: The foundation day of Uttarakhand state was celebrated at Punjab Raj Bhavan, under the ‘Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat’ scheme, on Thursday. In the captivating cultural program organized on this occasion, Nanda Devi Lok Jat Yatra of state of Uttarakhand was presented by the artists of North Zone Cultural Centre. Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, extending greetings to the people, appreciated the performances of all folk artists. He said that the purpose of celebrating these Foundation Days is to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, integrity, and unity of the nation and remembering the efforts of those who worked hard to achieve statehood.

GSC urges CM to take action on violations of Punjabi laws in schools

Chandigarh: Expressing deep concern over the disregard for Punjabi language in private schools, the Global Sikh Council (GSC) on Thursday condemned the neglect of Punjabi teaching as mandated by both the Punjabi Acts promulgated in the State since 2008. GSC president Dr Kanwaljit Kaur, and secretary Harsarn Singh, in a letter to the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, strongly urged him to take urgent action to enforce mandatory monthly inspections and reporting by all District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Languages Officers (DLOs) on imparting and usage of Punjabi education across all schools, especially those under private management.

Chandigarh: For efficient and effective removal of construction and demolition (C&D) waste and making the city more sustainable and eco-friendly, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has included 3 chota haathi tippers in its fleet of Solid Waste Management transport systems. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh flagged off the 3 vehicles, purchased at a cost of Rs 28 lacs from MCC office premises, Sector 17 in the presence of Anindita Mitra, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
