POLICE SI HELD TAKING BRIBE IN JAJPUR

Jajpur: The Vigilance police on Thursday arrested an SI of Police red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the owner of a seized sand-laden Hyva truck to release it. The policeman Nirmal Kumar Senapati is working in the Sukinda police station of Jajpur district.

 

KORAPUT EX-CDMO GETS 2-YR RI FOR GRAFT

Cuttack: The Special Judge Vigilance, Jeypore, on Thursday convicted Dr K Haribandhu Reddy, former Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Koraput, in a graft case and sentenced him to undergo two years’ rigorous imprisonment. The court also asked Reddy to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 and in default to undergo further three months’ RI. Earlier, the anti-graft agency had charge-sheeted him for misappropriation of Government money in implementation of the Enhanced Malaria Control Programme (EMCP) in Koraput. Vigilance would now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Reddy.

 

RAINCOATS DISTRIBUTED TO KIDS BY LIONS CLUB, BBSR  

Bhubaneswar: Under the Beti Padhao; Beti Bachao initiative, the Lions Club Bhubaneswar Odisha has distributed raincoats to the inmates of Asha Kiran in Niladri Bihar here. The programme was organised to ensure that the 30 inmates could commute to school during the rainy season. Club president Tapan Kumar Harichandan, secretary Er Saroj Patnaik, treasurer Amitabh Das and members Kanhu Ranjan Parwari and Siddharth Mohanty participated in the programme. Lion Smriti Ranjan Jena bore all the expenses.

 

CAREER FAIR HELD AT DAV CHANDRASEKHARPUR  

Bhubaneswar: A career fair was organised recently at the DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, for the Secondary and Senior Secondary students in collaboration with the Student Outreach, Kolkata. The event witnessed interactive sessions with experts on various career options beyond conventional vision for students. School Principal Dr Sujata Sahu in her address emphasised upon the growing relevance of alternative career choices in the changing scenario.

 

MALKANGIRI RI HELD TAKING RS 25K BRIBE

Cuttack: The Vigilance police on Wednesday caught Simanchal Sahu, Revenue Inspector (RI), Sindhrimal under Malkangiri tehsil in Malkangiri district while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000. Sahu had demanded the bribe from a person for demarcation of her land for acquisition by the Government for airstrip in Malkangiri. Recently, her land of area Ac 1.50 decimal was acquired by the Government and she had received the compensation for it. Following the trap, simultaneous searches were carried out on the residential house of  Sahu at Balimela in  Malkangiri district and his office room at Sindhrimal in Malkangiri. Sahu was arrested and forwarded to court.

 

TATA LAUNCHES FULLY-AUTOMATED CONSTRUCTION SERVICE CENTRE IN ODISHA  

Bhubaneswar: The Tata Steel has inaugurated the first-ever fully-automated construction service centre in Odisha. The facility, spanning across 11 acres in Tangi, Cuttack, has been created in partnership with the Sagar Business Private Limited, a channel partner of Tata Steel. The company’s Marketing & Sales, Long Products chairperson Ashish Anupam inaugurated the centre. The event was followed by a customers’ meet in Bhubaneswar, which was attended by customers from the infrastructure, housing and industrial sectors.
