BEVERAGES DISTRIBUTED TO DEVOTEES VISITING PURI
Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of the Rath Yatra in Puri, beverages and drinking water was distributed at Dhauli Square to pilgrims. The commuters were offered beverages to rehydrate them in the hot and humid conditions. The camp was organised jointly by NSS Student Group of Dhauli College of Art and Craft and Chinmayee Foundation Trust and inaugurated by motivational counsellor Chandra Sekhar Pal. This camp was conducted under the guidance of social worker Sushanta Kumar Sahoo.
TPCODL IMPLEMENTS LOAD MGMT STRATEGIES
Bhubaneswar: The peak summer season of financial year 2023-24 has witnessed an unprecedented increase in power requirements across the TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPCODL) area throughout the day. The TPCODL power demand has risen from 1763 MW to 2025 MW, marking a 15% increase. Specifically, in Bhubaneswa, the load has escalated from 474 MW to 592 MW, representing a 25% increase. In response to this challenging scenario, the TPCODL has taken proactive measures to effectively manage power distribution. The establishment of the Centralized Power System Control Centre (CPSCC) plays a pivotal role in this effort. Through the CPSCC, real-time visibility of power distribution, including power flow and loading at each primary substation, is ensured.
TPSODL RESTORES 1,017 POLES, 59 TRANSFORMERS
Brahmapur: The TP Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPSODL) has successfully restored 1,017 electric poles and replaced 59 distribution transformers since March 2023. These infrastructures’ repairs were necessary due to the frequent occurrence of high-intensity Kalbaisakhis experienced this year. The efforts of TPSODL's 4,420 ground staffs resulted in the replacement or repair of 28.55 circuit km of damaged LT cables and replaced/repaired damaged conductor 35.35 km.
GURU KRISHNA WINS SHREI AWARD
Brahmapur: Renowned short film producer and director Guru Krishna DK was conferred with the “Shrie” award at the 8th State-level 'Shrie' award ceremony in Bhubaneswar on Sunday organised by the Parichaya Foundation. He has been given the award in the entertainment category for his contribution in the field of Odishi dance and short film making. Renowned flutist Guru Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Culture Minister Ashwini Kumar Patra, Finance Principal Secretary Vishal Dev, former MLA Priyadarshi Mishra and Rosaline Pattshani Mishra presented the awards. Eminent Odishi dance gurus Ileana Citaristi and Shashwat Joshi were also present.
27 DRUNKEN DRIVING CASES DETECTED IN B’PUR
Brahmapur: The Brahmapur police conducted a surprise vehicle checking on Saturday and Sunday by setting up Nakas in the city. The focus was to detect drunken driving, triple riding and vehicles plying without valid documents. A total of 27 cases of drunken driving were detected during the drive All the drunk drivers vehicles were seized and criminal cases were registered against the culprits, said Brahmapur SP Sarvana Vivek M.
AWAJ OF INDIA MEETING HELD AT BOKARO
Bhubaneswar: The Apex Body of Working Journalists Association of India (AWAJ of INDIA) held a camp meeting at Bokaro, Jharkhand on Monday under the chairmanship of ABWJAI chief Sunil Kumar Mishra. Senior journalist Sanghamitra Singh, a member of Press Club of India, New Delhi, and senior journalist Rabindra Sastri of Bokaro were guests. Sunil Mishra told about the vision of ABWJAI and requested the Prime Minister for implementing a Journalists’ Protection Bill.
