A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (IIAB) and Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) here on Monday. The MoU was exchanged between Dr. ON Singh, Vice Chancellor, BAU and Dr. Sujay Rakshit, Director, ICAR-IIAB in presence of Dr. BK Singh of ICAR-IIAB and Dr. Sailesh Chattopadhyay, Deputy Registrar (Acad), BAU. The MoU envisages collaboration between the two research and academic institutions in terms of student and faculty exchanges and sharing of research infrastructure. IIAB is working under the aegis of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research located at Garkhatanga, Ranchi. It has a mandate to develop human resources in the area of agricultural biotechnology and conduct research as an interface of plants, animals, fisheries and microbes. Recently it has initiated a B.Tech. course in Biotechnology besides M.Sc. in various aspects. On the other hand, BAU is a State Agricultural University with a long history of teaching and research encompassing different areas of agriculture. With the signing of MoU both the institutes will be greatly benefitted, harness each other’s infrastructure and human resources, and will contribute effectively towards overall progress of not only Ranch but the country as a whole.
