This Sunday Medinirai medical college hospital in Daltonganj witnessed two humane faces, one of the district top cop and second his serving government officer wife.
The top cop of the district Palamu Chandan Kumar Sinha, SP announced to adopt 5 TB patients under the PM TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by becoming Nikshay Mitr as he will be making available food baskets to each of the five for 6 months.
Dr Anil Kumar Srivastav the district TB officer here has confirmed this vow/commitment of the SP Sinha.
Sinha said "I had some idea of the war going on in the country against the TB but when district TB officer Dr Anil Kumar Srivastav told me about the Nikshay Mitr I decided to be one for 5 TB patients. I am happy to be a part of the battle against TB."
Dr Srivastav said India has set a target for TB elimination by 2025 and Nikshay Mitr is playing a vital role in it by bearing the cost of food basket for the TB patient.
If the district top cop has so offered to be a Nikshay Mitr, there should be now a long line of the cops and police officers to adopt TB patients here.
Srivastav said "We believe officers down the line will try to follow the suit of the SP for the TB patients as we continue to look for the donors for the food basket."
The food baskets are no extraordinary thing. It has pulse, gram, jaggery peanuts, mustard oil and Sattu! Srivastav said the Nikshay Mitr food basket has no Afghan dry fruits nor dragon fruit but plain daal, Sattu and mustard oil!
