Saturday, 25 November 2023 | PNS | Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday emphasised the need to expedite the resolution of property ID objections, considering it a significant task that requires thorough resolution for those raising objections.

Special camps should be organized to facilitate this process, said the Chief Minister, while presiding over a review meeting of Urban Local Bodies Department in Chandigarh, along with the Urban Local Bodies Minister Dr Kamal Gupta and Chief Executive Officers of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Municipal Corporations. The Chief Minister asked the officials to promptly register urban local bodies’ shops post-sale.

‘Urban local bodies should diversify their sources of income’

Citing the significant potential for revenue generation through advertisements, the Chief Minister also underscored the need for urban local bodies to diversify their sources of income. There are 88 local bodies in the State.

The Chief Minister was apprised during the meeting that specific tax rates on advertisements have been set at four per cent for Gurugram, Manesar, and Faridabad; two percent for municipal councils, and one percent for committees. It was also informed that the process of advertising involves e-auctions, with 100 registered places at the state-level and a total of 1930 e-auctions planned. So far, 376 auctions have been conducted, resulting in revenue of Rs 40.44 crore.

During the meeting, it was also apprised that the regularization of 457 colonies under civic bodies and approximately 150 colonies under the Town and Country Planning Department is in progress. Tenders for infrastructural development of each colony are scheduled to be floated by December 5, with the release of 25 per cent of the funds upon the opening of tenders.

The wardbandi (delimitation) is nearing completion, and the tenure of five municipal corporations is set to conclude by January 2024. Elections will promptly follow the conclusion of this tenure. The Chief Minister issued an order for Ambala CEO Satendra to go on a 15-day leave for not giving a satisfactory response.

‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra to be carried out for 50 days in State”

The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ has been started which will be carried out for 50 days in Haryana under the banner of Viksit Bharat Yatra Jan Samvad. The yatra will be conducted at the ward level in Municipal Corporations, at four to five locations in Municipal Councils, and at a single venue in Municipal Committees.

The primary goal of this yatra is to effectively communicate government policies to the common man. It is aimed to showcase the experiences of individuals who have benefited from government initiatives, providing a platform for them to share their stories with the wider public. The Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner will serve as the nodal officers for this yatra, he added.

The Chief Minister highlighted that over 100 Jan Samvad programs have been successfully conducted in rural areas, and now this Yatra will extend to urban centers to foster Jan Samvad.

He emphasized the meticulous handling of documents from each complainant received during Jan Samvad programs, with thorough reviews conducted on a dedicated dashboard. In addition, a specialized cell has been established to gather feedback from complainants regarding the actions taken on their applications, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their satisfaction levels. Jan Samvad program serves the crucial purpose of direct communication with the people at the grassroots level, he added.
