Taking a tough stand on lapses in security, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued directives asking hotels and guest houses to furnish identification of guest failing which strict action would be taken against the owners.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Tuesday.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna said that though it was mandatory for guests to give their identification to hotels and guest houses, some hotels flouted this directive.
“Taking a tough stand, the government has made it clear that hotels and guest houses will have to take the identity proof of the guests. The first violation of this directive will invite a fine and in case of repeat violation, the licence will be cancelled,” Khanna said.
“This is being done in view of security,” he clarified.
In another decision, the government has decided to deposit physical stamp papers from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 in banks. “After e-stamping became a popular mode of registration, the physical stamp papers were lying unused in the state treasury. The cabinet has decided to dispose of stamp papers ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 worth Rs 5,781 crore by depositing them in banks. Or as an alternative, these can be used in those transactions where a large amount is involved,” the minister said.
The cabinet also approved a proposal to develop bus stations in five districts namely Ghaziabad, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Agra and Lucknow on PPP model. A letter of intent in favour of Omax has been issued.
The government has also issued guidelines about discarding more than 15-year-old government vehicles.
Besides, the cabinet has approved Rs 393.56 crore for the construction of elevated 5-lane road connecting Delhi and Noida. Khanna said 50 per cent of the cost of this project would be borne by the state government and the rest by NOIDA.
In another decision, the cabinet has approved a proposal to renovate aided private schools by contributing 75 per cent of the cost. The rest of the cost would be shared by the management of the school. Earlier, this policy talked about 50-50 sharing between the government and the school management. As there was no taker of this proposal the government was forced to make the share 75-25 per cent.
To bring coordination among different departments regarding construction of roads, the government has decided to constitute a committee headed by district magistrate in each district that will supervise laying of infrastructure regarding utility services.
“It is generally seen that once the road is constructed, it is dug up by other government agencies to lay sewer lines or cables. To ensure that this does not happen, approval has to be taken from the committee so that all works are carried out in a coordinated manner,” Khanna said.
The government has given approval to set up private universities in Mathura, Agra, Farrukhabad, Ghaziabad and Meerut. Besides, a decision has been taken to set up private universities in B-tier cities.
New transfer policy
Lucknow (PNS): The state cabinet has approved the new transfer policy according to which transfer of officials can be done at the department level by June 30.
“There is no change in the policy this year,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna said. “Only 20 per cent of the Class III and IV employees who are posted in one district for more than 10 years will be transferred on the approval of departmental heads. All the transfers should be carried out on June 30,” he said.
The minister said after the expiry of this deadline if any transfer of officers in Class I and II needs to be carried out, the chief minister’s approval will be required.
