Gwalior to get International level terminal in new year

In the new year, the city residents will get the gift of a new international level state-of-the-art terminal. With this Gwalior will have direct air connectivity with about two dozen cities. After the opening of the terminal, direct flights will be available to various cities of the state and the country. As of now, services are available for Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, Jammu and Hyderabad. In the near future, regular direct flights will be available to other cities including Ahmedabad, Pune, Goa, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Bhubaneswar, Nanded and Bhopal.

Talking to media persons here, the Gwalior Airport manager said that Gwalior is gaining pace of development and creating new dimensions for a better future. The international airport is a picture of the future of a city taking off at a fast pace of development, when it takes shape, Gwalior will leave its own mark not only in the country but also abroad.

He added that in the very first month of the coming new year, the city will get the gift of an international level airport in the form of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Airport. The new airport, which will write a new story of progress in Gwalior-Chambal region, will be dedicated to the public in the new year. This new terminal, which is being built at a cost of Rs 450 crore, is being constructed in 20 thousand 230 square meters. 92 percent work of this new terminal, which has a five star rating from Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA), has been completed. The construction work will be completed by December 31. The terminal building has been constructed with modern facilities and innovative technology.

Elaborating further, he said that Two new runways have been built, where nine Airbuses of A-320 series and four series of Q-400 aircraft can operate easily. International level facilities will be provided to the passengers in the terminal. Aerobridge facilities will be available for physically challenged people. There will be arrangements for high security at the entry gate for the passengers. Aerobridge, lift and accelerator facilities will be available. Child care room and other facilities will be available. There will be retail outlets of branded companies for the passengers. You will also be able to taste delicious food in the restaurant.

There will be a parking zone with a huge and organized green park. Where 400 cars can be parked. A six-lane high level entry and exit road has been constructed for smooth flow of traffic during peak hours. It has been equipped with tree plantation and beautification for environmental protection. Passengers will enjoy premium lounge access with the Holiday Inn Express or in transit sleeping pods.
