As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ radio programme completes 100 episodes on Sunday, the Governors of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana Chief Minister on Sunday held special screening of the programme.
Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit called Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' radio broadcast a “unique and historic” programme connecting the hearts and minds of the people. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also listened to the 100th episode of the programme at an event held in Panchkula and hailed the broadcast for embracing the concept of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ (one India, great India).
Addressing people after the broadcast, he said: “Making the best use of technology, Modi has united the countrymen by addressing the citizens of the entire country from one place. He has also given a new direction to the people.”
Khattar said that since October 3, 2014, the Prime Minister has been addressing the citizens on national issues through Mann Ki Baat. “When this programme started, no one imagined it would become so popular. The way citizens of India are participating in this programme since its launch has become a world record,” he said.
The Chief Minister called upon the people that whatever new direction the Prime Minister shows to society in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, they should follow it and also inspire the people around them.
Purohit, who listened to the radio broadcast at the Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh at a special event, said that the programme connects the hearts and minds of people and is successfully promoting unity and hope among its audience.
“It is a source of inspiration to many and has brought about an awakening in the country. It resonates with people as it is about their concerns,” he noted. The initiative highlights government and citizen action in priority areas and in turn encourages listeners to establish or participate in change-making initiatives in their own communities, with an aim to have a lasting and sustainable impact on the lives of the people and the country, the Governor said, adding that not just India, the entire world is taking cognizance of the programme.
Khattar said it is a matter of pride that two people from Haryana got special mention in Modi's Mann Ki Baat on Sunday. He also thanked Modi for talking about the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign, a cleanliness drive started by youth of Dulheri village in Bhiwani district of Haryana, among others.
Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, who also listened to the 100th episode of the radio broadcast, said that it was a programme of social dialogue with an objective to create impact resulting in positive change in the society.
Equating the programme with epics like 'Mahabharata' and 'Ramayana', Himachal Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that it has brought positive changes in the lives of several people.
