Funds paid to kin of martyred security personnel

A continuous all-round joint operation is being conducted by the joint forces of Jharkhand Police and Central Paramilitary Forces (Cobra, CRPF and SSB) against Naxalite organizations, which is yielding very positive results in the State. The welfare work of the police officers/personnel involved in Naxalite operations as well as all other police officers/personnel is being implemented on priority basis by the Director General of Police, Jharkhand.

In this series, on Thursday, in the auditorium located at Police Headquarters, Ranchi, in the presence of the Director General of Police, Jharkhand, payments were made to the dependents of the martyrs in the Naxal violence under the 'Accidental Coverage’ under the Police Salary Package as per the MoU signed by the officials of State Bank of India,.

Let it be known that on 14.08.2023, as part of Naxal eradication campaign, in an encounter with Naxalites in Tumbahaka under Tonto police station area of Chaibasa district, Jharkhand Jaguar's ASI Amit Kumar Tiwari and constable Gautam Kumar made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

Taking prompt action by Jharkhand Police and State Bank of India, under the Police Salary Package, Rs. 25 lakhs and Rs 15 lakh was given to the family/dependents of Amit Kumar Tiwari and Gautam Kumar.

It is noteworthy that on the initiative of the Director General of Police, Jharkhand, an MoU was signed between Jharkhand Police and State Bank of India for the Police Salary Package, under which the following facilities were provided to the police personnel through the Police Salary Package. For personal accident death insurance - Rs 50 lakh, permanent total disability - Rs 50 lakh, permanent partial disability - Rs 30 lakh, aircraft accident - Rs 1 crore, in case of death due to personal accident - Rs 50 lakh for higher education of dependent children. Insurance amount - 10 lakhs and there is a provision to give maximum insurance amount - 10 lakhs for the marriage of unmarried girls. An additional provision of Rs 10 lakh has been made to the dependents of martyrs in Naxal violence/ambush attacks by militants and criminals.

Under this MoU, on behalf of State Bank of India Rupay Platinum Card will be provided to the employees, under this, additional insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh will be available in case of death due to accident etc. All these insurance facilities will be provided free of cost to the account holder under the Police Salary Package by State Bank of India. Besides, provision has been made for free accounts, cheque book, ATM card for four family members of police personnel and insurance of Rs 5 lakh each for adult members.

On this occasion, on behalf of Jharkhand Police, DGP Ajay Kumar Singh along with Murari Lal Meena, ADG (Headquarters), Dr. Sanjay Anand Rao Lathkar, ADG (Operations), Priya Dubey, ADGP, (Modernization and Training), Akhilesh Jha, IG, (Human Rights), Amol Vinukant Homkar, IG, (Operations), Annepu Vijaya Lakshmi, DIG, (Personnel), Michael Raj S. DIG (Special Branch), Inderjit Mahatha, DIG (Jharkhand Jaguar), Amit Renu, SP (Operations) and on behalf of State Bank of India Regional Manager, Ranchi Region, Alok Ranjan, Corporate Salary Relationship Manager Vikas Kumar Pandey and Pandara Branch Manager Kumar Kaushal were present.
