Minister of Excise and Prohibition Baby Devi, on her first day of work on Tuesday, said that there will be a ban on the sale of any type of liquor in the Shravani fair and on the Kanwariya Path till Vaidyanath Temple. “There will be a ban on the sale of any type of liquor in the world-class Shravani fair of Deoghar and on the Kanwariya Path till Vaidyanath Temple. Liquor shops will remain closed. Keeping in mind the devotees, especially my sisters and daughters, I have taken this decision,” she tweeted.
Wife of former Education Minister Jagarnath Mahato, Baby Devi was administered oath of office and secrecy by Governor CP Radhakrishna on Monday. She took oath as the 11th minister of the Cabinet on Monday. She was allotted the Excise and Prohibition Department by the government, though her husband Late Jagarnath Mahto was also in charge of the Education Department.
Earlier, on Monday, the world famous Shravani Mela was formally inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Badal. After inaugurating the fair, Badal Patralekh said that special care would be taken of the devotees visiting Deoghar and Basukinath in the month of Shravan. Every year lakhs of people come to Babanagari to perform the Jalabhishek of Baba Bholenath.
This year, after 19 years, a very special coincidence has been made in Shravani Mela. This time Sawan is two months old. Keeping this in mind, arrangements have also been made. For the first time, soil from the Ganga has been laid on the 8 kilometer Kanwari Path from Dumma to Khijuria. Kanwariyas will get food at a cheap rate in the maximum building with a capacity of 10,000. Waterproof pandals have been installed in the route line for queuing up Kanwariyas.
The world famous Shravani Mela 2023 was inaugurated with the worship of Baba Baidyanath by 11 Vedic priests to formally inaugurate the Shravani Mela. When the worship of the Vedic priests was over, the guests inaugurated Shravani Mela 2023 by cutting the ribbon and lighting the lamp. At the beginning of the program, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri gave a welcome speech. The Deputy Commissioner told that after 19 years such a Shravani fair has come, in which eight Mondays are being held. He said that the Jharkhand government will provide all possible facilities to the godlike devotees coming to Baba Nagri Deoghar for the world famous Shravani Mela.
From Tuesday (July 4), the great festival of worship of Lord Shiva is starting. This year Sawan will be of 59 days i.e. it will continue for 2 months. The month of Sawan will start from 4th July till 31st August. During this, there will be Adhik Maas (Mal Maas) from 18 July to 16 August. Because of this, this year Sawan will be two months long.
