Excise Dept achieves 113% revenue against target in 6 months

Under the chairmanship of Vinay Kumar Chaubey, Regional Secretary, Excise and Prohibition Department, a review meeting was held with the excise officers and human resources providing agencies of all the districts of Jharkhand state on excise revenue collection and other points on Thursday. In the meeting, the revenue collection in the last 6 months was reviewed by the Departmental Secretary. A total of 113 per cent revenue collection has been achieved against the revenue target set by the Excise Department for 6 months.

The departmental secretary directed to maintain this increase so that 100 per cent achievement of the consolidated annual target can be ensured. The Secretary directed to install CCTV cameras in all the retail product shops as soon as possible so that real time monitoring can be done regarding the liquor being sold in the retail product shops. Strict instructions have been given to the manpower providing agencies to pay timely honorarium to the employees working in retail product shops, because if the salaries are not received on time, there is a possibility of the employees committing wrongdoings.

All Assistant Commissioners of Excise/Superintendents of Excise, Jharkhand were directed to ban the sale of liquor at rates higher than MRP. Instructions were given to ban sale of liquor at rates higher than MRP and adulteration of liquor under any circumstances. All District Excise Officers were directed to install display boards related to MRP at visible places in retail product shops.

The departmental secretary directed that the sale of liquor should be ensured only through the Track and Trace system. Apart from this, the Secretary directed the JSBCL for efficient management of the stock to ensure adequate supply of domestic and foreign liquor. Instructions were given to impose a penalty on App – the agency collecting cash from retail product shops for laxity in its work. Instructions were given to dispose of old destructible liquor stocks in retail product shops as per rules.

In the review meeting, Commissioner of Excise, Faiz Aq Ahmed Mumtaz, Joint Commissioner of Excise, Gajendra Kumar Singh, General Manager (Operations/Finance) Sudhir Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Excise) Dr. Rakesh Kumar and excise officers of all the districts were present along with human service provider agencies working in their respective districts.
