ED court extends judicial custody of Pooja Singhal till June 15

Suspended IAS Pooja Singhal undergoing treatment in RIMS could not be produced in the ED court on Monday. ED's special judge PK Sharma's court has extended the judicial custody of Pooja Singhal till June 15. In the same case, the accused CA Suman Kumar, the then assistant engineer of Khunti Shashi Prakash and former JE Ram Vinod Prasad Sinha were produced in the court of ED's special judge PK Sharma through video conferencing on Monday. The court has also extended the judicial custody of these three persons till June 15.

On April 10, the court framed charges against Pooja Singhal. Apart from this, charges were also framed against CA Suman Kumar and Shashi Prakash, then assistant engineer of Khunti. Apart from this, charge sheet has also been filed against all of them in the past. The court has already framed charges against Ram Vinod Prasad Sinha. The hearing on the bail application of Pooja Singhal is to be held in the Supreme Court in the month of September. Presently Pooja Singhal Singh is in jail under judicial custody, due to illness she is undergoing treatment at RIMS.

A Special PMLA Court on April 10 framed charges against suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal and others in a money laundering case. With the framing of charges, trial will go on in the court against Pooja Singhal as an accused.

The charge has been framed under sections 3 and 4 of the said law. With the development now trial can be started against the suspended senior bureaucrat of Jharkhand.

In May last year the Enforcement Directorate arrested Jharkhand mining secretary Pooja Singhal in connection with a money-laundering probe linked to the alleged embezzlement of MGNREGA funds and other charges.

Singhal was arrested after ED got credible evidence of her connection with CA Suman Kumar to frame the charges. Pooja Singhal was the secretary of the Department of Mines and Geology and the Managing Director of Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation Limited (JSMDC).

On December 1, 2022, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal’s properties worth Rs 82.77 crore. According to the ED, the properties comprise two land parcels in Ranchi as well as the super specialty hospital named “Pulse Super Speciality Hospital” and the diagnostics center named “Pulse Diagnostic and Imagining Center.”
