The Election Commission in Chhattisgarh on Monday emphasised the need for complete participation on polling day by making voting easy for disabled and senior citizens.
They said this at a seminar held in Raipur to brief voters about the arrangements made for the disabled and senior citizen voters at polling stations across Chhattisgarh.
Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale called upon them to take maximum benefit of the efforts being made by her office.
She said the disabled and senior citizen voters will also not have to stand in queue.
Also, they will have the option to vote by postal ballot through Form 12D.
Training has been imparted to the polling personnel to make them sensitive and aware of their special needs, she said.
Free transportation facilities will be arranged from their homes to the polling station and back.
Names of candidates will be printed in Braille script on EVM machines for visually impaired voters.
On the polling day, NSS, NCC, and Scout Guide volunteers will also be put on duty to assist them, she said.
Raipur Collector Sarveshwar Bhure spoke about the Voter Assistance Booth (VAB) and the Saksham App made for the disabled and elderly.
