A drunken man allegedly burnt his wife to death at Balisahi village under the Kankadahada police limits in Dhenkanal district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Rangabati (54), wife of Niranjan Das (58).
According to reports, Niranjan used to torture the woman under the influence of alcohol. On the fateful day, Niranjan came home after consuming liquor and started thrashing his wife.
Later, he poured kerosene on her and set her on fire. She sustained critical burn injuries and died on the spot.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by the deceased’s son Bikas Das (20), police have registered a case and started an investigation
