Health services remained paralysed in the district as the indefinite strike by government doctors, demanding arrest of the accused involved in the assault of Deputy Superintendent of Sadar Hospital Dr Awadhesh Singh , entered the fourth consecutive day on Monday.
The doctors held demonstrations and laid a day-long dharna at hospital premises staying away from work, badly affecting the functioning of the government hospitals in the district. Emergency services were, however, being run by doctors.
The strike has affected the health care services in Primary Health Centres hospitals in the Garhwa district.
The strike of all the doctors, private doctors and personnel of the Health Department will continue in protest against the incident of assault by JMM leaders with the Deputy Superintendent of Sadar Hospital, Dr. Awadhesh Singh. On the fourth day of the strike, IMA Jhansa, Ayush doctors, NRHM workers, outsourcing workers, dental workers, all came on one stage and demonstrated at the main gate of Sadar Hospital. They said that this strike will continue till the arrest of the accused involved in the incident.
A doctor said this is quite unfortunate. In such a situation, no medical staff is feeling safe. The police administration should investigate the matter seriously and take action.
The doctors said that first they entered the office and misbehaved and assaulted them. After that he has been implicated in a false case. Which is quite unfortunate. On the call of IMA and JHASA, OPD remained stalled in government hospitals of the district. This caused a lot of trouble for the patients. However, the emergency service continued. Doctors and workers protested by wearing black badges.
Garhwa DC Shekhar Jamuar said that a four-member committee headed by the Deputy Development Commissioner has been constituted to investigate the incident. Further action will be taken on receipt of the inquiry report.
Efforts are being made to end the strike by contacting the doctors, it is hoped that the strike will end soon, the DC added.
