Do not allow overcrowding in Pandals: DC

Ranchi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rahul Kumar Sinha, Thursday,  held a meeting with representatives of various Durga Puja committees regarding control of noise pollution and complete preparations for Durga Puja. During the meeting he said that do not allow people to gather more than the capacity of the pandal.

During the meeting Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar) Ranchi, Deepak Kumar Dubey, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Ranchi, Rajeshwar Nath Alok, representatives of various Durga Puja committees.
The DC directed all the pandals of the city to ensure that noise pollution is controlled. Necessary guidelines were given regarding fire safety, CCTV, following the route of idol immersion and discussing every major point. He said that there should be arrangements for separate entry gates and exit gates for men and women in every pandal.

“ There should be good crowd control. Devotees should not face any problem in having Darshan and send the same number of devotees for darshan as per the capacity of the pandal for darshan. There should be arrangements for adequate lighting in puja pandals, arrangement for genset in case of power failure, 24-hour fire safety, 24-hour CCTV monitoring, cleanliness and water in the pandals,” Sinha said.

Regarding organizing the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy in Ranchi from October 27, the DC directed the members of all puja pandals to remove all the arched gates of Durga Puja by October 25.

Meanwhile, a mock drill was organized at the police line on Kanke Road on Thursday regarding Durga Puja. On the instructions of Ranchi City SP Rajkumar Mehta, a mock drill was conducted to deal with anti-social elements. The City SP said that the police are fully prepared to maintain peace and order in the district. If anti-social elements try to spoil the atmosphere during festivals, the police has made full preparations to deal with such anti-social elements, he added.

During this time, the police first tried to convince the so-called anti-social elements to stop their ruckus. After that, the exercise was taken forward by spraying water on the rioting people. During this time the police released tear gas and also fired in the air. In the end, the police also lathicharged the rioting people, after which the rioting anti-social elements ran away from there.
City SP Rajkumar Mehta said that the police-administration is fully alert to ensure that Durga Puja is conducted peacefully. Sensitive areas of all police station areas have been marked and special security has been provided there.
