Power utility companies of the national Capital, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited and BSES, have geared up for extensive safety drive in view of the festive season as well as impending winter season.
BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) have geared-up to provide ‘Tatkal’ temporary electricity connections for a range of celebrations, including Durga Pujas, Diwali Melas, Ramlilas, and Marriages. These temporary connections are not just hassle-free; they are also cost-effective, safe, and contribute to a reduction in noise and air pollution. On the other hand, Tata power, supplying electricity to a populace of over 7.5 million in North Delhi, is organising an extensive safety drive for its consumers and field staff to reduce the chances of electricity-related occurrences.
In a statement, BSES Under this innovative scheme, consumers can obtain a ‘tatkal’ temporary electricity connection on the same day they apply and complete the necessary commercial formalities. This is a significant improvement over the usual wait time of up to seven days for temporary connections.
To avail themselves of the ‘tatkal’ temporary electricity connection, customers can apply and make payments online through BSES’ official website (www.bsesdelhi.com), Mobile App, or WhatsApp. Alternatively, they can contact the BSES call center at 19123 (BRPL) or 19122 (BYPL) or visit the customer care center/Digi Seva Kendra at the division office for a hassle-free experience.
“Our entire organisation is geared up to make ‘same day’ connections a reality for our customers. Leveraging our advanced IT capabilities and streamlined processes, this scheme represents our contribution to the festive spirit while actively combating air pollution in Delhi by reducing reliance on diesel generators. By offering ‘Tatkal’ temporary electricity connections, they aim to make every festivity memorable, safe, and eco-friendly,” a BSES statement said.
In a statement, Tata Power said during this campaign, more than two lakh installations including plain cement and concrete (PCC) poles, street light poles, stay wires, towers, rail poles, fencing of sub stations, feeder & service pillars, PWD Poles, MCD Poles, ATMs and lights installed in parks were checked for any unsafe situation / hazard; rectifications thereof.
The company is also running a dedicated social media campaign using its corporate mascot Roshni for giving safety tips to urge consumers to ensure safety during the festivity.
It is also sensitising school children and RWA members through online and offline modes on various aspects of electrical and fire safety.
