The 3rd Dinanath Pathy Kala Samman & the 1st Dinanath Pathy Memorial Lecture was organised by the Ketaki Foundation Trust at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan here on Saturday in the presence of writers and lovers of literature. The event was also attended through Facebook live.
The 3rd Dinanath Pathy Kala Samman was conferred on Sushama Mohapatra from Paralakhemundi for her lifelong contribution to the dying art forms like Anasara Pati, Ganjappa and Parasurama Handi Painting. She carried forward this tradition of art inspired by her late husband Prakash Mohapatra, who was a well-known artist practicing these unique art forms. Dr Nivedita Mohanty, noted historian and author, was chief guest. Eminent painter and printmaker Ramahari Jena presided over the function.
Prof Jatindra Kumar Nayak, eminent writer, delivered the 1st Dinanath Pathy Memorial Lecture. His discourse touching the depths of the life and works of late Dr Pathy was highly appreciated by the audience. He also asserted the importance of research and promotion of Odia language and culture.
Dinanath Pathy was a renaissance man, a poet, painter, art historian, novelist, curator, scholar and educator. His knowledge of paintings, classical, popular and tribal art forms was comprehensive.
