Delhi Metro to sell ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ at 36 stations from Sept 4-13

In a bid to enhance the experience of international delegates and visitors attending the G20 Summit, Delhi Metro will sell’Tourist Smart Cards' through dedicated counters at 36 stations from September 4-13. These cards, designed to facilitate seamless travel within the city. These are available in two categories -- one-day validity and three-day validity cards -- offering “unlimited rides” in the metro network. These cards will offer unlimited rides on the extensive metro network, allowing tourists to explore Delhi’s prominent tourist attractions with ease. The one-day validity Tourist Smart Card is priced at Rs 200, while the three-day validity Tourist Smart Card can be purchased for Rs 500, which includes a refundable security deposit of Rs 50.

These cards will grant unrestricted access to the entire metro network and no penalties or surcharges will be imposed on’Tourist Smart Cards’ for issues such as entry/exit mismatches or overstay within the system.

To assist tourists in planning their journeys, the Delhi Metro Rail offers a Delhi Metro Rail app which provides comprehensive information on the metro network. Within the app, a dedicated’Tour Guide’ section showcases a list of all metro stations and nearby tourist attractions.

The 36 stations where these cards will be sold through dedicated counters include — Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar, New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg, Supreme Court metro stations, Indraprastha, South Extension, Sarojini Nagar, Chhatarpur, Qutub Minar, Hauz Khas, Nehru Place, Kalkaji Mandir, Akshardham,  Terminal 1 IGI Airport and  Karol Bagh.

 Besides unlimited rides, these cards are of great benefit to tourists as they can seamlessly travel in the entire network from the first train to the last service available for the day, the officials said.

“There are no penalties or surcharge levied on the use of Tourist Smart Cards on account of instances like entry or exit mismatch, overstay in system, overstepping etc,” the Delhi Metro said.
