Around a dozen train robbers committed dacoity in 18309 Up  Sambalpur Jammu Tawai express train coach S 9, between Latehar and Barwadeeh railway stations under the Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway last night. 

Eight passengers were hurt. Two were given stitches. One had a finger cut. The train robbers assaulted them with the butt of the country made katta. 

One fire was also shot by the train robbers in the gallery of the coach S 9 said the RPF inspector incharge Banarsi Yadav. The empty cartridge has been found by the RPF. 

Yadav said the firing in the gallery of the S coach 9 was just a terror tactic of the train robbers who wanted to frighten the passengers as no passenger has any fire arms injury but laceration caused by the butt of the desi katta. 

An FIR has been lodged with the GRP Daltonganj by a passenger Manas Chand Mohitik and 12 other victim passengers. The train robbers looted cash and ornaments worth over a lakh of rupees. The train having 20 coach had only 3 RPF men as its escort. 

The train robbers had boarded this train at Latehar and they went on looting passengers and when the train got into slow motion because of caution note of the railway ahead of the Barwadeeh railway station, the train robbers got down and disappeared. 

The TTE on duty A C Munda was the first informant to this train dacoity. At the Daltonganj railway station the injured passengers and other passengers created a great ruckus. 

It was on the intervention of the DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan that a team of health personnel led by Dr Chaman Kumar Bhardwaj reached the Daltonganj railway station and treated the injured passengers. Two were given anti tetanus shots too said Chaman Kr Bhardwaj. DDC Ravi Anand and SDO sadar Rajesh Kumar Sah on reaching the Daltonganj railway station camped there till each of the injured passenger was not medically taken care of as after 3 hours of detention here of this train  it began its forward journey for Jammu Tawai. 

The civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar who had a death case in his relative co ordinated with his medical team right from national highway. The RPF contingent provided bottles of drinking water to passengers of coach S 9. Sources said the RPF inspector incharge Banarsi Yadav and his team later escorted this train from Daltonganj to Chopan. 

The train robbers were addressing one of them as Ajay. Sources said the train robbers looked professional as they committed dacoity with ruthlessness and when they wanted to escape, they did it precisely ahead of the Barwadeeh railway station when this train had a slow speed.
