The crime branch has arrested the notorious thief who stole mobiles by pickpocketing customers in Haat (weekly market) Bazaar, police have recovered 20 mobiles from the accused.
He steals mobiles from weekly (haat) markets of Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Vidisha, Jabalpur, Raisen and sells them at a cheap price in West Bengal. Police are interrogating him. He has been arrested earlier also on charges of theft.
Additional DCP Shailendra Singh Chauhan said that Mahesh Singh Lodhi, a resident of Priyanka Nagar Rajharsh Colony, Kolar, had given a complaint application. In the complaint he stated that he told that on April 18 at 9 pm, he went to Banjari Haat market to buy vegetables. While shopping, an unknown miscreant stole the mobile from his pocket.
Police registered the case and started an investigation.
Meanwhile, on May 1, the police got information that a person was looking for a customer to sell mobile phones at a cheap price near Rajput Dhaba.
Police reached the information and took the suspect into custody. The police asked him for the documents of the mobile which he failed and began to mislead and when the police strictly inquired, they told that the mobile was stolen. The accused was identified as Avinash Singh (27), a resident of village Kalapipal Agaria police station Itkhedi Bhopal.
