A week after Punjab Government ordered ban on the sale, storage, and purchase of China Dori made of synthetic material, Punjab Police have further intensified the ongoing drive against this fatal kite flying string.
The state police teams have recovered 1,502 Chinese dor bundles after registering 50 First Information Reports (FIRs) and arrested 56 people who indulged in selling this fatal kite flying string, said the state Inspector General of Police (IGP), headquarters, Sukhchain Singh Gill on Monday sharing weekly details on action taken against sellers trading in the Chinese Kite string.
Since the drive started against Chinese kite strings, Punjab Police have recovered a total of 12,866 Chinese dor bundles after registering 284 FIRs, and arrested 311 people from December 19, 2022.
“As per the Chief Minister’s directions, Punjab Police are taking strict action against those buying or selling Chinese kite flying strings,” said IGP Gill. Meanwhile, SHOs in the state have been directed to conduct raids to ensure that no one is selling Chinese kite strings within their area of jurisdiction.
