Bhubaneswar district Congress members led by its president Biswajit Das on Tuesday gheraoed the Tata Power office at Power House Square.
They alleged that the company has failed to provide uninterrupted and quality power; power cuts are frequent and inflated bills are being issued to consumers. Every month, the Tata Power is looting more than Rs 30 crore to Rs 40-crore excess money from the State. But the Government is cooperating with them.
The agitators tried to barge into the office campus but were prevented by the police personnel deployed at the spot. This led to a scuffle. Later, a delegation submitted a memorandum addressed to the Tata Power CEO.
Former PCC president Jayadev Jena, Shibananda Ray, Kishore Jena and many other party leaders were among those present.
