Chief Minister Hemant Soren today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 126 schemes at a cost of Rs 406 crore, 11 lakh, 58 thousand 3 hundred in West Singhbhum district. In this, the foundation of 95 schemes costing Rs 367 crore 99 lakh 15 thousand was laid. There, 31 schemes worth Rs 38 crore 12 lakh 43 thousand 3 hundred were inaugurated. On the occasion, assets worth Rs 23 lakh 35 thousand 636 were distributed among 25 beneficiaries. On behalf of the district administration, the Chief Minister was informed that in the current financial year 2023-24, assets worth Rs 282 crore 27 lakh 35 thousand 4 hundred have been distributed among 7 lakh 38 thousand 962 beneficiaries.
Addressing the tribute paying-cum-laying of foundation stone of projects-inauguration and asset distribution programme organized in memory of the martyrs of Guava firing incident at Noamundi in West Singhbhum district today, the CM said, “Hundreds of salutes to the brave martyrs of Guwa firing incident. We are remembering their sacrifice in the tribute meeting organized in honour of these brave martyrs. On this occasion, let us all take a pledge to imbibe the ideals of our martyrs, ancestors and agitators and build the Jharkhand of their dreams.”
The CM said that our ancestors fought a long battle against the British rule, exploitation, oppression and others at different times. Be it the struggle to save one's existence and survival or to protect water, forest and land. Many sacrificed themselves in this fight. But, as a result of the struggle they waged, the existence of tribals and indigenous people continues today.
Soren said that our government is honouring our brave martyrs by identifying their dependents and those who lived a life of anonymity along with the agitators of separate state of Jharkhand. In this sequence, work has been done to connect the dependents of martyrs with various government schemes along with jobs and pension.
The CM said that even today we face many challenges. Tribal Dalits and backward people have been marginalized for decades. They have been ignored because they are economically, socially, educationally, intellectually and politically weak. Now when they are moving forward, some forces are making nefarious attempts to stop them. But, we will not waver from the resolve we have taken to strengthen them. No matter what the circumstances are, we have embarked on the path of strengthening them and will not stop our steps.
The Chief Minister said that the Manki-Munda traditional system is a strong link of the tribal community. They are the leaders of the society. We are giving more strength to this system, so that the society can get maximum benefit from it. On this occasion, the Chief Minister distributed motorcycles among them.
Minister Champai Soren and Joba Manjhi, Member of Parliament Geeta Koda, MLA Niral Purti, Deepak Pidhi, Dashrath Gagarai and Sonaram Sinku, Zilla Parishad President, Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, Commissioner of Kolhan Division were present in the Martyrdom Day program apart from the DIG and the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of West Singhbhum district, several officers of the district administration were present.
