The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the 'Swachhata League Marathon' on Sunday organised by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) at Parade Ground on the occasion of the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The run started at 6 AM in the presence of Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal 'Gama', municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal and MLA Khajan Das among others. Several locals also reached Parade Ground to participate in the marathon in which the CM, mayor, municipal commissioner and others also ran for a short distance. Addressing people during the inauguration, Dhami said that the country has achieved several achievements in the past nine years due to PM Modi. India's standing and respect accorded to it have increased tremendously in the world during his tenure so far. It is well known to all that India's influence has increased significantly at the global level, he added. The CM further pointed out that India has become the country with the fifth largest economy in the world all due to the efforts of the PM. He also said that Modi has a special attachment to Uttarakhand. The PM has stated that the third decade of the twenty-first century will be the decade of Uttarakhand. "To make it happen, the State government is moving ahead rapidly in every field under the guidance of PM Modi. We are getting full support from the Central government in every field whether it is development of road, rail and air connectivity or other development projects. During the tenure of PM Modi, the State has received schemes worth more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore. The State is progressing rapidly in tourism, agriculture, horticulture, education, medicine and technical sectors all because of the support of PM Modi," added Dhami.
