Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today flagged off 10 mobile Deendayal Rasoi Kendras from Smart Park. These mobile centers will go to those places in Bhopal and three other cities and provide full meals to workers and other needy people for just five rupees where such people work. Mobile centres will also be operated in other cities of the state.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay considered the poor as God. He believed that if you served the deprived then it would be considered that you have worshipped God. Accepting this mantra of Pandit Deendayal Upadhayay, many schemes are being conducted in Madhya Pradesh to serve Daridra Narayan or the poor who is like God. One of these schemes is Deendayal Rasoi Yojana. CM Chouhan said that there are two main objectives of launching this scheme. One is that poor people can get food at concessional rates, second is that migrant workers and other needy citizens can get the facility of a full meal near their workplace. With this system, such labourers who come from village to city to earn their living will be able to get fresh meal at their place of work without spending much money and time. The centres operated earlier were located at one place only. The mobile kitchen centres will provide food at the cost of only Rs 5. When laborers went to other places for food, their wages were spent on food. The workers used to spend their hard-earned money just for food. State government has made arrangements to give subsidy at the rate of Rs 10 per person under the scheme.
Plan at a glance
This scheme was started in the state on 7 February 2017 with operation at 56 places including district headquarters and 6 major religious places.
At present the scheme is being operated at 166 places. Under the scheme, 2.25 lakh food plates have been distributed in the state. 25 mobile kitchen centres have been launched in the state. The cost of the mobile centre is Rs 25 lakh. It will also have modern equipment for preparing food and keeping food hot. In these centres, food is distributed from 10 am to 3 pm at the rate of Rs 5 per plate.
The cities with population of more than 10 lakh in the state where mobile centres have been launched include 3 mobile kitchen centres in Bhopal, 4 in Indore, two each in Jabalpur and Gwalior.
One mobile kitchen centre each has been operated in the remaining 12 municipal corporations and two industrial townships, Pithampur and Mandideep. It is planned to soon launch such kitchen centres in 68 urban bodies with a population of more than 20 thousand. The mobile centres are also equipped with modern equipment like heaters, mixers, grinders, which are useful in preparing food and keeping it warm. Necessary utensils have also been arranged. A timetable has been made to send vehicles to different areas.
Chief Minister Chouhan greeted the Urban Development and Housing Department for running this scheme. At the outset, Commissioner Urban Administration Bharat Yadav delivered the welcome address and gave information regarding the scheme. On this occasion, Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, other public representatives, Commissioner Public Relations Manish Singh and other officials were present.
