The gallery of the civil court Palamu Daltonganj will be the venue for the third National Lok Adalat (NLA) slated for Saturday September 9.
This arrangement has been done following deceptive weather here in the past couple of days where sun and cloud play hide and seek.
Secretary of the district legal services authority Arpit Srivastav said "The gallery of the civil court Palamu Daltonganj will be the venue for the NLA. It has to its credit many such lok adalats in the past. This arrangement has been put in place in the wake of the unpredictable weather here."
The gallery is too long and can easily accommodate benches for the NLA. It will be convenient not only for the battery of the judicial officers but also for the advocates and parties participating in it for the award of settlement of their compoundable cases.
This correspondent did try to get a few minutes audience with the chairman of the DLSA Palamu Niraj Kumar Srivastav who is the principal district and sessions judge but in vain as the PDJ had a very tight schedule here today when he had to go to the Palamu Bar Association which advocates said was PDJ's maiden visit to the Bar after his joining here as the PDJ.
Like all other previous NLAs compoundable cases of the forest, excise, electricity departments etc are to come in thick numbers.
The compoundable cases of the excise act as Jharkhand has adopted Bihar and Orissa Excise Act 1915 get enormous relief in the award of the lok adalats where an accused on his pleading guilty is exonerated of any jail term but if the same accused tries his luck in fighting his excise case in the court even on his pleading guilty has to have a term in the jail invariably.
