Jamshedpur police today said that security will be beefed up in and around the city on the occasion of New Year celebrations. Extra forces have been deployed on picnic spots, restaurants, parks, malls so that people can welcome the New Year peacefully.
A total of 22 checking points have been set from Dimna and also Bhurudih Dam in Ghatsila from the city for both the year end as well as the New Year celebration. Those found unmasked will be taken to task.
Senior superintendent of police, Kishore Kaushal said that no music is allowed beyond the 12 pm point. The senior SP pointed out that they have put up over 20 armed police beside five police officers at Dimna Lake area for Sunday and Monday.
“During this season eve-teasing cases register an increase at the picnic spots so the district women cell of the police has planned to work in coordination with the respective local police stations to prevent incidents of eve-teasing in the picnic spots,” said an official of the district women’s cell.
He said that they had convened a special meeting of the police officers assigned for carrying out the checking of arms or helmet in the city, and has categorically briefed them that whoever is using a Press or Police sticker must show a valid I-card.
"In the event that anyone fails to produce a valid I-card, then the police officer concerned will immediately strip the sticker off the vehicle and subsequently prosecute the person for cheating the police," said the official.
In alignment with directives from the Senior Superintendent of Police, and under the leadership of the Superintendent of Police, City, extensive security measures were enacted today in the Jamshedpur city area, in anticipation of New Year celebrations.

City SP inspects Burmamines police station
Burmamines police station underwent a comprehensive inspection led by the Superintendent of Police, City Mukesh Lunayat. The inspection delved into meticulous scrutiny of police station records, expediting pending cases, warrants, advertisements, sequestrations, and organizing raids to apprehend smugglers and address issues related to banks and ATMs.
During the inspection, crucial directives were issued to the attending police officials. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining a heightened vigil and implementing intensive patrolling to deter criminal activities and ensure the safety of the local community. The upcoming New Year's celebrations prompted instructions to monitor tourist destinations and picnic spots, aiming to create a secure environment for residents and visitors in 2024.
