Central Coalfields Limited hosted a 'Shramik Samman Samaroh' at its headquarters, Darbhanga House, Ranchi to mark labour Day. More than 70 prizes were given to miners including contractual workers during the programme.
Prior to it, a floral tribute was paid at Shaheed Ashmarak, situated at Darbhanga House, Ranchi to honor the contribution of coal miners towards the nation's development. This May Day was aimed to acknowledge the contribution of coal miners to the nation's economy and the hardships they face while working in mines.
On this occasion, CMD CCL, P.M. Prasad, Director Technical (Operations), Ram Baboo Prasad, Director (Personnel), Harsh Nath Mishra, Director Technical (Planning/Projects), B. Sairam, Director (Finance), Pawan Kumar Mishra, the CVO, Pankaj Kumar, member of JBCCI amendra Kumar, honourable representatives of Joint Consultative Steering Committee, Welfare Board, Safety Board, ST, SC and OBC Cell, Manoj Rajak, Kamlesh Singh and General Managers of various departments and a large number of CCL employees were present.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp and the playing of the company’s corporate song. More than 70 winners across different categories from across the company were felicitated on the occasion.
CMD P.M. Prasad extended labour day greetings to everyone. He stated that CCL's achievement of its production target of 76 million tonnes for the fiscal year 22-23 is because of the dedication and hard work of regular workers as well as outsourcing workers. He stated that collectively, we will undoubtedly meet the target for the current fiscal year. Prasad stated that production has increased in both open cast and underground mines and there is immense potential for further growth.
R.B Prasad, Director Technical (Operations), in his address stated that all forms of labour are respected and are the foundation for the nation's development. He also emphasized that workforce working with the company should be given promotion so that their career growth is maintained.
Director (Personnel), Harsh Nath Mishra stated that the workers of Coal India are united and that nothing can prevent them from achieving their objective. Both directly and indirectly involved labourers are accorded respect by the company. He further added that the company is undertaking various initiatives for the holistic development of stakeholders.
Senior union leader Ramendra Kumar talked about the best policy of Coal India Ltd, which has taken care of its workforce during COVID-19 pandemic and paid Rs 15 lakh for demise during such period. He further added that the company is still paying jobs in the case of death of employees and this compensatory employment is not practiced in other PSUs. Other union leaders- Manoj Rajak and Kamlesh Singh- also talked about the importance of May Day.
Rashmi Dayal, General Manager (Personnel & Industrial Relations), delivered the welcome address. A cultural programme was also organized. Earlier in the day, CMD CCL along with Director’s , CVO and other employees paid tributes to the martyred employees at Shaheed Smarak. The programme of Samman Samaroh was compered by Dibya Singh and Rakhi Gupta.
