The Chhattisgarh High Court on Monday granted interim bail on medical grounds to the Raipur Mayor’s brother who was in jail in an alleged Rs 2,000 crore liquor scam.
Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari granted the bail and directed him to submit a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh with two equivalent sureties.
The final hearing will be held after three weeks.
Senior advocate Puneet Bali, Prafull Bharat and Mateen Siddiqui appeared for Dhebar.
The counsels said Dhebar was suffering from various ailments related to kidney failure in support of which relevant medical documents were presented.
Dhebar, an elder brother of Raipur Mayor Aijaz Dhebar, was held by the Enforcement Directorate on May 6 in a money laundering case linked to the alleged liquor scam.
The ED had claimed that bribes were collected from distillers in the state on a per liquor case basis procured from the CSMCL to allow them to form a cartel and fix market share.
The ED had attached119 immovable properties worth Rs. 121.87 Crore in respect of Anwar Dhebar and others.
