DISCOMS to shift High Tension Wires over schools and residences in Haryana
Chandigarh: Haryana, Energy Minister, Chaudhary Ranjit Singh, on Friday said that Chief Minister Manohar Lal has accorded in-principle approval to the shifting of high-tension wires passing over schools and residential areas. The state DISCOMS will bear the cost of this operation, requiring a substantial allocation of approximately Rs. 151 crore. Addressing a press conference, he said that orders have already been placed to procure 10 lakh smart meters, of which approximately 9 lakh have been received. The central government agency is responsible for procuring smart meters for all states. Additionally, an order for an additional 20 lakh smart meters is expected to be placed soon.
Registration date for Electoral Roll of Hry Sikh Gurdwaras Management Committee extended
Chandigarh: Gurdwara Election Haryana has extended the date of registration for electoral rolls to be prepared for the elections of "Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee" till October 16, 2023. Commissioner, Gurudwara Election, Haryana, Justice HS Bhalla has issued a letter to all the Deputy Commissioners of the state in this regard. As per the letter, it is clearly stated that the data of registration of names was examined for electoral roll in Haryana. Considering all these factors, Gurudwara Election Haryana has decided to extend registration of names for preparation of electoral roll of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwaras Management Committee.
Haryana Govt to construct 47 additional residential houses at District Jail, Yamunanagar
Chandigarh: Haryana Government will construct 47 additional residential houses at District Jail, Yamunanagar at a cost of Rs. 13.57 crore. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has given administrative approval. An official spokesperson said that currently there are 41 residential houses built in the Jail office premises and with the construction of 47 additional houses a total of 88 residential houses will be ready to adequately accommodate 191 jail officers/employees.
92.92 percent of Dial 112 callers in Hry satisfied with police response
Chandigarh: Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur on Friday said that the Police department has set a time limit of 15 minutes in urban areas and 20 minutes in rural areas for Dial 112 helpline to reach callers. From July 12, 2021, to August 30, 2023, over 1.22 crore people sought police assistance through the control room, with 92.92 percent of callers satisfied with the work of ERV-deployed policemen. He commended the police force for their dedication and hard work. Kapur highlighted that all 628 ERVs operating in the Dial 112 service is equipped with global positioning systems (GPS), simplifying their tracking. These vehicles are manned by a total of 5,000 policemen working in two shifts round the clock, with three police personnel assigned to each vehicle during one shift, he added.
Development goals can only be achieved if environment is protected, says Himachal governor
Shimla: Environment conservation must take precedence over development as the goal of development will only be achieved if the environment is protected, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said on Friday. Shukla was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the fourth Confederation of Indian Industry Power Conclave on the theme ‘Making Himachal Pradesh the Capital of Green and Clean Energy.’ He said, “We cannot make development if we continue to exploit nature and do not preserve the environment.” Himachal Pradesh faced the consequences of tinkering with the environment during the recent rain-triggered disasters and both the government and hydropower developers must ponder over it and ensure that the environment is not disturbed, he added. According to Shukla, “Sustainable development will be difficult if we continue to harness hydropower potential without protecting nature.” The Himachal Pradesh government has taken multiple steps to promote green and clean energy and it can become a role model for other states, he said.
