The stray dogs menace remains unabated with a fresh case reported from Bareilly where a 12-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs while another child was injured.
According to reports, the incident took place on Tuesday when dogs attacked the boy, Ayaan, who was playing with his friends in Khana Gauntiya village. The boy ran for his life as the stray dogs went after him. However, he fell down on the ground, following which the dogs pounced on him.
Passers-by saw the boy being attacked by dogs and rescued him. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
In a separate incident, stray dogs attacked a 5-year-old boy, identified as Arsh, who was playing outside the house in Bareilly.
Hearing Arsh's cries, his father came out and chased away the dogs.
Arsh was reportedly seriously injured on his head, legs and hands and was admitted to the hospital in a serious condition.
Two months ago, a three-year-old girl died after she was mauled by stray dogs. She was playing outside her house when the canines pounced on her and dragged her for 150 metres, before killing her.
A similar attack took place in December last year when stray dogs suddenly attacked a 12-year-old boy, Golu, injuring him in the process, in Mathurapur village in CB Ganj area.
In mid April in Aligarh, an official of Aligarh Muslim University and later a six-month-old girl were mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs while a boy was killed in similar way in Moradabad about a fortnight back.
Meanwhile in Barabanki, one person was killed and 29 people were injured when an Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus rammed into a stationary truck on Purvanchal Expressway on Wednesday, police said.
The incident took place in Subeha area when the bus was going from Lucknow to Azamgarh. The bus rammed into the stationary truck, and its driver, Amarjeet (41), died on the spot. Twenty-nine of the 38 passengers on board the bus were injured in the accident and admitted to a community health centre, the police said. Six of the injured, who were seriously injured, were rushed to the trauma centre in Lucknow, they said.
