Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the significance of blood donation as the most substantial form of donation during his inaugural address at the Blood Donation Camp organised at Guru Shri Gorakshanath Blood Bank in Gorakhpur.
This event was part of the ongoing Seva Pakhwara, a celebration commemorating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, and it saw enthusiastic participation from members and volunteers of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
Emphasising the critical role of voluntary blood donation in saving lives, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged society to recognise the importance of this act. He said that one unit of blood, which contained several vital components, could potentially save numerous lives, particularly those afflicted by anemia and various blood-related disorders.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister encouraged the volunteers, asserting that a lack of awareness often deters individuals from making such contributions. He said that any healthy individual could donate blood without facing any difficulties and stressed the importance of voluntary donations in preventing illegal and unethical practices related to blood procurement, which could pose significant risks to public health.
The chief minister emphasised that raising awareness about blood donation within society can serve as a major preventive exercise against diseases. He urged all healthy individuals to consider donating blood at regular intervals, not only to assist those in need but also to contribute to the betterment of humanity.
He also informed the audience about the evolution of Guru Shri Gorakshanath Hospital’s blood bank. In 2005, when it was established, there was no blood separator system in place. However, with the introduction of a blood separator, the facility can now separate and provide platelets, plasma, and other essential components to patients based on their specific requirements, bringing significant relief to those in need.
Seva Pakhwara, celebrated from September 17 to October 2, marks Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The blood donation program is an integral part of this initiative, aligning with PM Modi’s vision for a stronger and more influential India on the global stage, as reflected in India’s leadership within the G-20 community.
Among the attendees were Guru Gorakshanath Blood Bank in-charge Awadhesh Aggarwal, Bharatiya Janata Party state vice-president Dharmendra Singh, regional president Sahajanand Rai, district president Yudhishthir Singh, district in-charge Ajay Singh Gautam, metropolitan president Rajesh Gupta, BJYM district president Satyarth Mishra, Satyendra Sinha and Rahul Srivastava among others.
