In a tragic incident, five persons, including four schoolchildren, were killed while over a dozen other students were injured when a school van and a school bus collided with each other in Budaun on Monday morning.
All the injured children were shifted to the district hospital.
Senior officers rushed to the spot to supervise the rescue operation.
According to reports, the accident took place early Monday morning near village Naviganj on Hazratpur Meow Road in Usawan police station area of Budaun.
A van, said to be of SRP English Medium School of the village and the bus of Satyadev Vidyapeeth Inter College at Jawahar Nagla Meow under Alapur police station collided with each other in which four children and the van driver were killed while 15 students were injured. After the accident, cops from several police stations reached the spot and shifted the injured to district hospital.
The family members of the children and people from nearby villages gathered at the spot and staged a protest.
All the children are said to be from Naviganj village.
District Magistrate Manoj Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr OP Singh also reached the district hospital. Some seriously injured children were sent to the medical college hospital.
Those killed in the accident were identified as Khushi (6), daughter of Pradeep of Amaura, Harshit (6), son of Amendra Kumar from Labhari, Pradeep (12), son of Madan Pal of Gyutiya, Kaushalya (10), daughter of Harvansh of Naviganj and Omendra Kumar (25), driver of van residing in Labhari.
Amongst those injured, the condition of Kaushal (12), Parul (8), Rudrapratap (5), Pari (7), Arun Kumar (12), Ayush (7), Pranshi (6), Indrajeet (8), Bhagyashree (10), Sarvagya Sharma (4) and Rohit Sharma (4) was stated to be critical.
