A notification has been issued by the state government to declare ancient and historical monuments and places and remains of archaeological importance in Uttar Pradesh as protected monuments.
These 18 ancient and historical places are located in six districts of the state.
UP’s Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said here on Thursday that the process of issuing the second notification for declaring 18 monuments or sites as protected had been completed by the director of Uttar Pradesh State Archaeological department.
Singh said that the pagoda located in Jhansi district, the palace of Champatrai, the temple of Banjaro, Ber, Pisnari Dayi Mud, Pathemari, Tehrauli Fort, Digaragarhi and Ram Janaki temple were declared protected in the north medieval period.
Similarly, Kot Tila in Sant Kabir Nagar district, Rani's pond located in Prayagraj, ancient Vishnu temple built by Ishti, Gangola Shivala, Shiva Tandav located in district Mahoba, Khankra Math, ancient Shiva temple located in district Farrukhabad and Shiva temple (Tixi temple) located in Etawah have been put under protected category.
The notification has been brought under Section-3 of the Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, 1904.
