‘A healthy mind resides in a healthy body’ and it is of utmost importance for the students’ community who faces the grind of academic pressure and parental expectations, said Principal DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar, Bipin Kumar Sahoo in his welcome address to the gathering at a seminar on mental health organised at the school on Friday.
Psychiatrist, and Clinical Psychologist Monalisha Pattnaik of IMS and SUM Hospital Dr Subhendu Narayan Mishra joined as the speakers and briefed the students about the causes, symptoms and the different ways to deal with stress and mental illness.
Dr Mishra advised the students to take both success and failure in the same spirit and urged them to maintain poise between their happiness at times of prosperity and stress when they have to see the face of failure. He also threw light on the different types of stress ranging from family, peer groups to the academic arena and gave them tips about various simple stress busters.
The programme was organised by the help and co-operation of all the staff members.
