Regional Executive Director (North) Praveen Saxena paid a visit to the NTPC Vindhyachal project, the largest power plant in the country. This visit was marked by a warm welcome extended to the RED by E Satya Phani Kumar, the Head of Project (Vindhyachal), Rajesh Bharadwaj, the General Manager (Operations and Maintenance) and other senior officials. The RED was accompanied by the Chairperson of Uttara Mahila Mandal Neelan Saxena.
During his visit, Saxena conducted a comprehensive inspection of various crucial areas within the NTPC Vindhyachal. He focused his attention on reviewing the Stage-5 Control Room, the C&M Area, and the FGD Area (Flue Gas Desulfurization). This inspection was carried out in the company of E Satya Phani Kumar and Rajesh Bharadwaj, in addition to other senior officials.
After the inspection, a significant development took place as a MoU was formally signed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. This MoU represents a collaboration between NTPC and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad. The primary objective of this collaboration is to empower women self-help groups (SHGs) within the Vindhyachal areas. The memorandum outlines a specific focus on continuous livelihood generation through the implementation of the Spice Production Scheme. In addition, 10 girls from the Government Higher Secondary School in Waidhan were presented with bicycles.
During his visit, the RED (North) took the opportunity to express his appreciation and admiration for the dedicated employees and workforce of the Vindhyachal. This visit underscores NTPC’s commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment, showcasing the organisation’s efforts in promoting gender equality and supporting local communities through meaningful CSR initiatives.
MGKV to start skill-based courses: Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKV) is going to start some skill-based diploma and certificate courses soon, In the meeting of heads of the departments and faculty deans chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Anand Kumar at the university here on Thursday, it was decided that keeping in mind the need of the region, certificate and diploma courses should be started in about 10 subjects in the university.
These certificate and diploma courses will be started in the subjects like sewing-embroidery, food and nutrition, catering and hospitality, psychotherapy, leadership, business management, yoga and naturopathy, textile and others. The V-C asked all the departments and faculties to prepare and submit the syllabus of such courses within a week so that the process of admission to these courses can be started as soon as possible.
The university has also received proposals from many colleges regarding these subjects. This information was given by the Registrar Dr Sunita Pandit in the meeting.
