Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday emphasised the potential of the India-Middle East-Europe corridor, announced during the New Delhi G20 summit, as a pivotal trade route for the world’s future economic exchanges as he also recalled world recognition to Indian heritage and cited individual examples of enterprise, service and good deeds in the country.
Addressing the 105th episode of his momthly radio programme, ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister spoke about the success of India’s Moon mission Chandrayan-3 and New Delhi’s presidency of the prestigious G20 Summit.
Modi emphasised the potential of the India-Middle East-Europe corridor, announced during the New Delhi G20 summit, as a pivotal trade route for the world’s future economic exchanges.
“India-Middle East-Europe Economic corridor proposed during the Summit will become a basis of world trade for hundreds of years,” the Prime Minister said.
He also lauded India’s role in making the African Union a full member of the G20 bloc, highlighting the country’s commitment to enhancing its global partnerships
“India showcased its leadership by making the African Union a full member of the G20 bloc,” he said.
“Throughout the year, programmes related to G20 were held at numerous universities of the country. Now in this series, another exciting programme is about to take place in Delhi, which is G20 University connect programme,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister expressed “immense pride” in India’s cultural and historical heritage by celebrating two significant achievement
Firstly, he mentioned Santiniketan’s recognition as a World Heritage Site.
Besides, the Prime Minister expressed happiness over the inclusion of the Hoysala Temples of Karnataka in the list of World Heritage Sites.
“It is India’s endeavor that our historical and cultural places get recognized as World Heritage Sites,” he said and underscoed the nation’s commitment to preserving and showcasing its diverse heritage to the world.
The Prime Minister cited cases of individual talent, deeds of kindness and welfare including the one related to a foreign girl. He played a video of a Sanskrit prayer sung by a blind German girl who has never visited India. Modi said the girl Kasmi also sings in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Urdu.
Modi shared a Kannada song also sung by the German girl saying “I wholeheartedly appreciate Germany’s Kasmi’s passion for Indian culture and music. Her efforts are going to overwhelm every Indian.” The Prime Minister , thereafter, mentioned some youth in Nainital district having started unique’Ghoda Library’ for children.
“The biggest feature of this library is that books are reaching children even in the most remote areas and not only this, the service is absolutely free”,he said.
Modi then spoke about a young girl Akarshana Satish in Hyderabad opening a library having 6000 books for children cancer patients as also about
Sukhdev Bhatt of Rajasthan and his team - named ‘Cobra’ -working together to save “ 30000 venomous snakes “ which in turn, also saved many human lives, he said.
Modi also lauded Auto Driver M Rajendra Prasad who he said “is also doing a unique work” in his Chennai house by saving and serving food, water and health care to 200 pigeons for last 25-30 years.
“He spends quite a lot of money on this, but he is steadfast in his work. Friends, seeing people doing such work with good intentions really gives a lot of satisfaction and a lot of joy. If you also get information about some such unique efforts, do share it”, the Prime Minister said to his listeners.
The Prime Minister while wishing his radio audience on the coming festival season asked them to remember “the mantra of Vocal for Local.”
As far as possible, you should buy goods made in India, use Indian products and gift only Made in India goods. Your little joy will become the cause of immense happiness for someone else’s family. Whatever Indian goods you buy, our laborers, workers, craftspersons and other Vishwakarma brothers and sisters will directly benefit from it”, Modi said.
