Seek God's help to make things work

Everyone wants to make things work  but hardly anyone knows how

People keep on experimenting in their ways. We don’t have to. Read on. For things to work well, God has to be involved. Without Him being in the picture, it is a non-starter. Why? Nothing moves without His permission, tacit or otherwise. Imagine being in a company, owned by some individual. Do you think anything happens in the company without the knowledge of this individual? Yes, this person may be hampered in many ways but God is not; He has absolute control. So, God must be favourable. The difficulty arises because God strictly goes by dharma and must enforce the ‘Karmaphala’ principle. But God helps out in coming out of difficulties if one becomes deserving. How you become one, will be detailed later in this article.

God must guide because that is all-important. Unless the direction is proper one cannot hope to achieve desirable results. Only God and Him alone know the ‘Big Picture’; we cannot. God knows our past, present and future also, that too in full. Nothing is unknown to Him. We can only speculate; He knows. That is how God can alert us about looming dangers. Then, God must help in the accomplishment of anything of consequence, because we, small souls, can manage only small deeds; God has to step in. God’s help is most crucially required in a change of our natures, which are most obstinate and keep us back from achieving what suits us. Only God has this power because our natures are the result of our past karmaphalas. Just like helping us out of our painful karmaphalas, only God can help change our deeply ingrained natures.

I can go on but let me take up what will make us deserving to get God interested in our lives. The answer in two words is: please Him. How do you do that? Two ways, i.e. follow dharma in your activities and behaviour and the other is to be dutiful. If you are more keen then try to increase the percentage of ‘sattva guna’ in yourself, i.e. in comparison to the other two modes of passion and darkness – the ones we normally favour. Purity will enhance and divine qualities will be reinforced. ‘Yajna’ (sacrifice for others), ‘dana’ (charity) and ‘tapa’ (austerities) will please the Lord further. Try to do some simple spiritual acts like having ‘darshan’ of God in His Deity form and even His photo like in a calendar, do ‘namaskar’ to Him, and pray for whatever according to dharma you need. Yes, it is both a spiritual act and a request for help. Chanting God’s names is another simple act. God has made it very easy to connect with Him. What could be easier than what has been mentioned earlier? And if you wish to please God, follow His instructions as detailed in scriptures like the Geeta. You will gradually get aligned with God’s plans for you.

If we do all these, what will happen? You will be completely amazed by the results, which will come sooner than later. Intuitions will begin to come giving guidance for making important decisions in life.

God also begins to help as only He can. Someone is seriously sick and you pray sincerely for his recovery. God may help if you have qualified for his ‘kripa’(mercy). It is all as per dharma. You become deserving having done sufficient spiritual acts and God steps in. We begin to succeed in many ways more than we could have imagined. ‘Saubhagya’(prosperity) becomes part of our lives. (18.78)

This is what the challenge is all about. But as mentioned earlier, it is not going to be easy. It requires long sustained practice to please God such that He begins to shower His ‘Kripa’ on us. I have experienced some of it, but more requires to be done. Sometimes fears to overpower faith, which indicates the need for more practice. Are you up to it? I am.
